For anyone riding in low light situations, particularly at dawn or dusk and during overcast days, being visible to other road users is absolutely essential. Brightly coloured and fluorescent garments make riders as conspicuous as possible.

With safety in mind, BMW Motorrad’s range of Rider Equipment offers riders a number of ways to be more visible without compromising on comfort and protection.

The new-for-2012, all-season Boulder 2 Neon waxed cotton jacket is the latest piece of brightly coloured kit to join the BMW Motorrad Rider Equipment range, which also includes the unmissable System 6 Fluorescent helmet; the lightweight Airshell Jacket and the all-in-one Prorain 3 waterproof oversuit.

Safety, comfort and practicality are the main factors to be considered when choosing a motorcycle jacket. With the Boulder 2’s removable protectors at the shoulders, elbows and back, a water-resistant waxed finish and wind- and waterproof removable inner C.A.R.E. climate membrane liner, riders can be confident in their choice, whatever challenges the weather and road may throw at you. The Boulder 2 Neon offers an alternative fluorescent finish to the range for 2012, alongside the original Olive/Black jacket.

System 6 Fluorescent helmet
The popular BMW Motorrad System 6 helmet is available in a high-visibility fluorescent yellow. The design was initially developed for Dutch police riders, who wanted the comfort and safety of the original helmet but in as eye-catching a colour as possible. The System 6 boasts a minimal weight of 1570g and is one of the quietest flip-fronts on the market, with a mere 86 dB (A) at 100km/h. It also features a drop-down internal sun shield and a mist-resistant double-layered visor to ensure optimum visibility even in the most inclement of weather conditions.

AirShell  Jacket
The AirShell is a lightweight jacket which combines a striking look and high visibility with all-round protection from abrasion and impact, with venting and breathable panels for stop start urban riding and perfect temperatures during fairer weather. A removable thermal, waterproof insert ensures it’s just as comfortable in less pleasant conditions.

ProRain 3 oversuit
The brightly-coloured ProRain 3 offers an alternative to waterproof textile kit, allowing the use of leathers and summer textiles to be extended into wet days and rainy seasons. With an ergonomic diagonal zip from hip to shoulder and one along the outside of the leg, and a multi-layer laminate construction, which means no awkward lining to snag on boots and zips, it’s easy to put on and take off. The heat-resistant Nomex lining on the inside leg to protect against engine and exhaust burns. The ProRain rolls up very small but offers big benefits to year-round riders.
