The Buildbase BMW Motorrad team celebrated taking their first top ten finish of the season, with Dan Linfoot bringing home his BSB-spec BMW S 1000 RR in ninth place in the second of the Bank Holiday weekend's three races. Superstock 1000 riders Steve Brogan and Howie Mainwaring also gave the team cause to celebrate by taking fourth and fifth places, delivering very welcome points and helping to defend the team's 2011 Superstock title. As a result, Howie is now second in the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship, with team mate Brogan in fifth.
Dan Linfoot took a ninth, a 12th and a 16th in the weekend's three BSB races, with Barry Burrell finishing 18th and 22nd. Barry retired from the third race due to a minor technical fault. Howie Mainwaring finished fourth and fifth in the Superstock 1000 race, which was red-flagged at just over two-thirds race distance following a crash.
Dan Linfoot, Buildbase BMW Motorrad BSB rider, said: "I'm much happier with my performance this weekend. Breaking into the top ten is a great step forwards, and one which I'm keen to repeat. I've never been a big fan of Oulton in the past, but this weekend it really came together. We got a great set-up, fast race pace and some very welcome results, which I aim to improve on."
Stuart Hicken, team principal, said: "It has been another challenging weekend, but one with some very promising results. Our best BSB finish so far is a great start, with Dan Linfoot breaking into the top ten. And we've shot up in the Superstock 1000 standings, thanks to the team working very late into the night to repair Brogan and Mainwaring's bikes after they both came off during qualifying yesterday. Unfortunately today's Superstock race was cut short due to a crash when both riders were working up through the field, potentially costing us a podium finish. But we're in a much better place to defend our 2011 title, which is fantastic news."
The Superstock 1000 race will be supporting the Donington round of World Superbikes next weekend.
