STEVE BROGAN TAKES FIRST SUPERSTOCK 1000 WIN OF THE SEASON FOR BUILDBASE BMW MOTORRAD.

14/05/2012

Buildbase BMW Motorrad's Steve Brogan took a well-earned race win in the second of today's two Superstock 1000 races, supporting the FIM World Superbike round at Donington Park. This brings Brogan, the 2010 BSB-EVO Champion, within 15 points of the Superstock 1000 Championship leader.

Brogan became the fourth winner in the first five races of the season in the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship, following an intense duel with Jimmy Storrar and race one winner Jason O'Halloran. Brogan's team mate Howie Mainwaring retired from the first race and was unable to start the second.

Donington Park also made history as the BMW Motorrad Motorsport team took their first World Superbike win at the hands of Marco Melandri in race one, with his team mate Leon Haslam finishing in second place.

Buildbase BMW Motorrad rider Steve Brogan said: "This win has been a long time coming for the Buildbase BMW Motorrad team; I missed out at Thruxton and then in the first race today I was having a good dice with Jason but, unfortunately, I came off. It was some close racing today and I knew we needed the win to get our championship back on track and that is what we have done. We can really take the fight to the next level at Snetterton in two weeks time."

All four of the team's riders will be returning to the circuit for the Snetterton 300 in two weeks time, with both British Superbike and Superstock 1000 races.
