BMW MOTORRAD’S NAVIGATOR IV GPS NOW COMES WITH COMPLIMENTARY MAP UPDATES FOR LIFE.

07/06/2012
BMW Motorrad is pleased to announce that anyone purchasing a BMW Navigator IV will receive complimentary map and database updates for the life of the unit.

The Navigator IV, created in partnership with GPS market leaders Garmin, is a unique device available for the majority of BMW’s motorcycles. Based on the popular Zumo  660 unit, BMW Motorrad’s Navigator IV has an exclusive mounting cradle with four additional buttons, ideal for rapid and easy operation with gloved hands. BMW’s motorcycles are pre-wired for the Navigator IV’s power supply, meaning fitting is simple and easy, and the intelligent software prevents any battery drain when not in use. A database of all BMW Motorrad dealerships is also included on the device, making travel and planning even easier.

The Navigator IV is specially designed to integrate with BMW’s flagship touring models, the six-cylinder K 1600 GT and GTL. The satnav can be operated via the handlebar multi-controller, and provides additional information to the rider via the sound system and speakers, as well as providing fuel updates relevant to the journey. The Navigator IV drops straight into the satnav mount within the dashboard of the K-series tourers, while the electronically adjustable screen secures the unit.

The rugged Navigator IV has a 4.3” touchscreen and is waterproof and fuel-resistant, vibration tested and operates both on the motorcycle’s power supply and on a rechargeable internal battery.

With its pre-installed maps of 40 countries in Western and Eastern Europe, and over 1.5 million points of interest, this latest satellite navigation system, designed with motorcycle riders in mind, will keep riders on track, even in the most remote of places. And with the additional bonus of free map updates for the life of the unit, riders can be sure they have the most up-to-date information and mapping available.

Fast route calculation, 3D building representations, extra large touch screen buttons, a lane assistant and junction views are just some of the features BMW’s satnav has to offer. In addition, it offers a multiple-route preview, speed limits are shown for most main roads and vehicle specific routes can be selected, making it an equally useful companion on a motorcycle or in a car.

While map data is pre-installed and supplied with the system, routes can easily be planned on a computer and uploaded. Routes travelled are automatically recorded and can be reviewed in programmes such as ‘Map Source’ or ‘Google Earth’.

The Navigator IV is compatible with the new BMW motorcycle communication system, which is available for helmets in the BMW Motorrad range of Rider Equipment. All street names are spoken aloud, enabling the rider to focus his or her attention on the road. It supports more than 200 mobile phones with Bluetooth and enables the motorcyclist to accept incoming calls and place outgoing calls directly via the satnav. State-of-the-art stereo Bluetooth technology is also used for in-helmet music playback.

BMW Navigator IV features at a glance:

• Rugged housing which makes the Navigator IV waterproof and fuel-resistant.
• Large display with a 16:9 format and 4.3” screen.
• Integrated lithium-ion rechargeable battery with life span for up to 5 hours.
• Does not need an external power source when the motorcycle is switched off
• Advanced mounting cradle with four large buttons on the left to ease practical usage.
• Comes with all BMW Motorrad dealerships programmed into it.

The Navigator IV is priced at £625 (incl VAT) or £585 for the K1600 version (no mounting cradle needed). For further information, or to locate your nearest BMW Motorrad Dealership, please call 0800 777 155 or visit www.bmw-motorrad.com.

Garmin nüMaps lifetime updates.

¹If you purchase a nüMaps Lifetime subscription (sold separately or bundled together with certain GPS models), you will receive up to 4 map data updates per year, when and as such updates are made available on Garmin’s website, for 1 compatible Garmin product until your product’s useful life expires or Garmin no longer receives map data from its third party supplier, whichever is shorter. A product’s “useful life” means the period during which the product (a) has sufficient memory capacity and other required technical capabilities to utilize current map data and (b) is capable of operating as intended without major repairs. A product will be deemed to be out of service and its useful life to be ended if no updates have been downloaded for such product for a period of 24 months or more. Unless otherwise stated, the updates you receive under the subscription will be updates to the same geographic map data originally included with your Garmin product when originally purchased. In some instances, your Garmin product might not have sufficient memory remaining for you to load an update to the map data, in which case you will need to either (a) select reduced map data coverage for your updates, or (b) purchase separately a microSD™/SD™ card (if and as applicable to your Garmin product) and load all or a portion of the map data coverage for your updates to the card and insert the card into the microSD/SD card slot contained in your Garmin product. If neither of the measures in (a) or (b) can be used to address your product’s lack of sufficient remaining memory, then Garmin may conclude that the “useful life” of your product has expired. Garmin may terminate your nüMaps Lifetime subscription at any time if you violate any of the terms of this agreement or your subscription. Your nüMaps Lifetime subscription may not be transferred to another Garmin product.
