BMW MOTORRAD UK’S FIRST TRACK DAY OF THE SEASON PROVES A ROARING SUCCESS AT SILVERSTONE – LIMTED PLACES AVAILABLE FOR REMAINING THREE EVENTS IN 2012.

BMW Motorrad UK’s first 2012 Track & Training Day at Silverstone was a big success, blessed with the first great weather of the British summer and a visit from the official Buildbase BMW Motorrad Superbike team and Motorcycle News Chief Road Tester and BMW racer Michael Neeves.

Open to both S 1000 RR owners and fans of BMW’s award-winning supersports bike, the trackday proved to be the perfect opportunity to further discover the amazing potential of the RR as well as for the riders to improve their skills with GP legend Niall Mackenzie.

In addition to taking to the track for a number of exciting 20-minute sessions with Niall and his team of expert instructors, riders experienced special wet areas designed to demonstrate the RR’s cutting edge Dynamic Traction Control and Race ABS features, giving them the confidence to do full-throttles starts and heavy braking, utilising the sophisticated onboard rider assistance systems.

Riders also had the chance to explore another side of riding skill in the ‘body positioning’ zone. Hosted by world-famous stunt rider Craig Jones, riders were coached in the key techniques in positioning, making them smoother and more confident on the bike, with cornering speeds increasing during the day.

In between the track riding and classroom sessions, attendees had the opportunity to meet the team from the Park Lane Race Support Service, and Motorcycle News’ Chief Road Tester Michael Neeves. Neeves races a Park Lane-supported BMW S 1000 RR and was on hand to offer advice and tips both on riding the RR, and making the most of the wide range of High Performance accessories for circuit and road riding – including the data logging equipment.

Visitors to the Silverstone event on 17 July were also treated to the spectacle of seeing the Buildbase BMW Motorrad team who were on location testing at the circuit, with 2010 BSB-EVO champion Steve Brogan taking to the circuit on his race-prepped RR.

Carl Graves, 28, said: “Excellent! The team planned everything perfectly – very professional. I would definitely come again!”

Dave Wright, 57, said: “I had a great day being taught by star rider Niall Mackenzie. The tuition is very good, the BMW S 1000 RR is a superb motorcycle and the specialised body positioning sessions gave great confidence.”

Places cost £295 for owners riding their own supersport bike, or £495 for the hire of a 2012 S 1000 RR for the day. BMW Motorrad and Focused Events will provide breakfast, refreshments during the day and on-site BMW Race Support Service.

BMW Motorrad Dealer RR Track Experience.   
 

Potential owners now have the opportunity to discover the amazing potential of the new 2012 BMW S 1000 RR during track riding sessions at five of the UK’s finest race tracks. 

BMW Motorrad has always offered road-based rest rides via its Dealership network, but riders can now experience a track-prepared RR at their choice of circuit.

Following a safety briefing and introduction to their track of choice, riders will be invited to join instructors for a 20-minute session on the circuit, designed to familiarise them with the RR’s potential, as well as the cutting-edge traction control and Race ABS features, in an exciting and fun environment. Riders will also be able to get advice and assistance from the BMW Park Lane Race Support Service.
