'EXPLORE OUR EARTH' IN 2014 WITH GLOBEBUSTERS.

04/09/2012

Who wouldn’t want the chance to ride around the world? It has to be the ultimate dream for just about every motorcyclist. Well in 2014, our adventure travel partner Globebusters will embark on a 48,000 mile round-the-world expedition, taking in 40 countries, six continents, and an extraordinary, unforgettable 280 day riding experience.  Perhaps it’s time for you to ‘Explore our Earth’ in 2014 and start a journey that could change your life?

In 2010 through to 2011, GlobeBusters led a group of riders on a voyage of discovery around the world, on a 40,000 mile journey called ‘Discover our Earth’. In 2014, it’s time to explore in much more depth. ‘Explore our Earth’ will be a groundbreaking motorcycle journey, the like of which has never been attempted by a group of motorcyclists before. In fact, the sheer scale of this circumnavigation of the planet is phenomenal – and you could be part of the action!

Explore Our Earth will take GlobeBusters’ Kevin and Julia Sanders into the record books once more as the longest motorcycle expedition ride ever and for 2014, the route has been designed for participants to share some of the most remarkable motorcycling in the world as well as the huge differences of culture, language, food and traditions en route, as our planet develops at an extraordinary rate.

Split into six sections –LondontoXi’an,Xi’antoBangkok,PerthtoSydney,NairobitoCape Town,Buenos AirestoBogotaandPanamatoLos Angeles– the route takes in some of the most remarkable motorcycling roads in the world. Riders can choose to ride the full route, or book individual sections, joining the group en-route.

Think of riding epic roads such as thePan American Highwayor straddling your bike across the Equator. How about riding the full length and breadth ofAustraliathrough the Red Centre and traversingChinafrom East to West on theSilk Road? Then there’s the African unmissables – Victoria Falls, the Kalahari,Zanzibarand Kilimanjaro!

The Great Wall, Machu Picchu, the Panama Canal, Palenque, the Terracotta Army, the Registan, Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Hollywood are all part of this one continuous and extraordinary 280 day expedition.

For expedition leader and GS fanatic Kevin Sanders, the voyage is as much about self-discovery as it is about experiencing the amazing variety of life, landscapes and roads from the saddle of a BMW bike, in the company of like-minded enthusiasts. Having spent much of his life travelling on GS bikes, Kevin is eager to show others the amazing sights and life-changing experiences that motorcycle adventure travel can bring.

“The interest in this trip is huge,” says the double Guinness World Record holder for endurance motorcycling. “We have a couple of hundred people who have already registered their interest so far but not everyone will be up to the task. It’s a massive undertaking that requires total commitment. I personally led the ‘Discover Our Earth’ expedition and it was a total success. This one is even more ambitious but we appreciate that riding round the world is expensive as well as time consuming, so you don’t have to do the whole thing – you can do just the sections you want. The 10-month trip will start in May 2014 inLondonand we’ll take the Silk Road toXi’aninChina, then go down toBangkok, then aroundAustralia, then southern Africa, then South America and Central America before finishing with the stars inHollywood,USA.

“Those who register will receive a phone call from me to talk them through the requirements and check out if they are serious about the challenge. We are limiting each section to 15 people, so the best thing is to contact me via globebusters.com for more details.”

GlobeBusters’ record-breaking Explore Our Earth expedition, due to take place in 2014, now has a dedicated Facebook page, where fans and riders interested in taking part can view and share images and videos, check out the route and explore the sights and sounds of each of the six sections of the ride, as well as get involved in the forum and register interest in joining the trip.
