Scandinavia has been the most popular destination since World of BMW tours began in 1998. Breathtaking scenery, glaciers, frozen lakes, fjords, colossal mountains and crashing waterfalls all form part of the exquisite scenery.

The panoramic landscape that accompanies this tour is profoundly dramatic and awe inspiring - nowhere else will you see the beauty of such cascading waterfalls and desolate plateaus, with views stretching across the mountains. Combine this with fantastic Scandinavian hospitality and you will have experienced the trip of a lifetime. During the tour you will stay at traditional Norwegian hotels as well as more modern ones.

Day 1 (09 June) - Harwich to Esbjerg

This 13-day tour starts with the DFDS overnight ferry from Harwich to the Danish port of Esbjerg. The sailing is at 17.45hrs and cabin accommodation with sea view has been arranged for everyone. Solo riders will usually share twin berth cabins but upgrades and sole occupancy are available, subject to availability and a surcharge. Once safely aboard and changed into 'civvies', there will be a group dinner on board enabling everyone to become better acquainted.

Day 2 (10 June) - Esbjerg to Copenhagen

This morning you will be given a tour briefing with essential information on riding in Norway, as well as what to expect over the next 12 days. Arrival in Denmark is at 13.00hrs and, once ashore, we will use the excellent motorway system to cross the country before arriving in the capital for the night. Accommodation has been reserved in a centrally located hotel and dinner will be at your discretion. (Mileage; 185)

Day 3 (11 June) - Copenhagen & ferry

Most of today is free for you to spend your time sightseeing and exploring this beautiful city. Late afternoon we will take the bikes to the port and check in for the overnight ferry service to Oslo. The sailing is at 17.00hrs and cabin accommodation has been reserved. Tonight you are free to choose from the on-board dining options.

Day 4 (12 June) - Oslo and free day

Arrival in Norway is at approximately 09.00hrs allowing time for breakfast on board before docking. Once ashore we will make for our hotel, just a few minutes walk from the main harbour. In this fascinating city you will be at liberty to visit the waterside museums, featuring the Kon Tiki and Ra2 rafts built by Thor Hyerdal. However, if you wish to spend some time in the surrounding region, take a ride down the side of the Olsofjorden, through Drammen, under the Fjord Tunnel and back to Oslo.

Day 5 (13 June) - Oslo to Lom

Today we will leave Oslo, heading north - first through Henefoss and then on towards Fagerness. Having climbed past the first of the glaciers, the road continues high over the Oppland, beside snow-covered mountains and lakes. Eventually, we will arrive in Lom for our next overnight stop in a traditional Norwegian timber-built hotel, situated in the centre of town. The food in the hotel is excellent; however, alternative restaurants are just a few minutes walk away. (Mileage; 220)

Day 6 (14 June) - Lom to Alesund

Today we begin with a climbing ride past snow, ice, mountains and waterfalls, as we head towards Grotil and the stunning run over the Geiranger. The town sits at the head of the Fjord of the same name, where the cruise liners sail right into the town. The dramatic roads start with an extraordinary climb out of Geiranger towards the ferry at Eidsdal followed by a run up past more snowscapes and waterfalls to the head of Trollstigveien. Here, there are plenty of cafes, restaurants and craft shops to stop off at, as well as numerous photo opportunities.

Now, prepare yourself for a ride, quite literally, over the edge of a waterfall and down a corkscrew road, almost through the crashing water and into the valley. It's another unique experience on this tour, before we continue towards the coast and the popular resort of Alesund. Our overnight accommodation has been reserved in a splendid hotel overlooking the harbour. (Mileage; 235)

Day 7 (15 June) - Alesund to Sogndal

We are now in the heart of the coastal Fjords. The route today crosses several of them on our way south. These are via a series of 'roll on-roll off' ferries, as we make our way towards the Sogn Og Fjordane region, filled with dramatic scenery and photo opportunities at every turn. Eventually, we reach the town of Sogndal where accommodation has been reserved in a central hotel for the next two nights. It has its own bars and restaurants; however, there are plenty of dining opportunities elsewhere in the town. (Mileage; 150)

Day 8 (16 June) - Free day

Today you will be free to spend a day in the heart of the mountain region. You can either stay locally and relax, or you can ride one of the most spectacular roads in Scandinavia - the Sognelfjell Road. Previous World of BMW customers have even been known to come on the trip for the sole purpose of riding this one road! This stunning route runs along the Fjord and then climbs high into the mountains. Here you will encounter snow, frozen lakes, glaciers and unparalleled scenery - you really will remember this road for many years to come! There is also the option, on the way up, to visit and climb on a glacier. As we are based in Sogndal, we will have to do this road twice to get back to the hotel ... oh well! (Mileage; 150)

Day 9 (17 June) - Sogndal to Geilo

After another buffet breakfast we will leave Sogndal and head west towards another Fjord crossing at Hella. Then we will head through more impressive scenery, mountains, waterfalls and tunnels to reach Aurland at the head of another Fjord. Here there is a welcome coffee and cake stop, followed by a spectacular climb to an amazing look out point set high above the Fjord. Here you can stand and look down the Fjord, watching the hang gliders hundreds of feet below! Then, south again through more snowscapes to the ski resort of Geilo and a hotel which boasts a traditional Norwegian welcome and a typical Scandinavian buffet dinner, overlooking the ski slopes. (Mileage; 160)

Day 10 (18 Jun) - Geilo to Hovden

The run from Geilo to Brimnes features snow covered wasteland, 60 miles of frozen lakes, log cabins, the giant waterfall at Voringfoss and much more, including a lovely coffee stop at Eidfjord, at the head of the Fjord. Then we head south along the side of the Sorfjorden, towards Odda and the in-land region of Telemark. Finally, we will make for the tiny village of Hovden for our overnight stay. (Mileage; 185)

Day 11 (19 June) - Hovden to Kristiansand

Today you have the choice of a lazy lie-in and breakfast, followed by a gentle run to the port of Kristiansand; or a brisk start into the region of Telemark to the east. Here, in the isolated town of Rjukan, is the 'Heavy Water Plant'. It became the scene of many sabotage attempts during WW2 and is depicted in the film 'The Heroes of Telemark'. It is now a fascinating museum and well worth the excursion. Whichever route you choose, we will meet in Kristiansand at our centrally located hotel, close to the harbour. There is a large pedestrian area with an abundance of cafes, bars and restaurants for dinner. (Mileage; 126 / 270)

Day 12 (20 June) - Kristiansand to Esbjerg & ferry

We have a very early start this morning as we head for the 08.00hrs ferry sailing and our return crossing to Denmark. Once back on Danish soil we will continue south to Esbjerg, in time for the return DFDS ferry to the UK. The sailing is at 18.45hrs and cabins again have been reserved. There will be a final group dinner on board for everyone to re-live the adventures of the tour. (Mileage; 170)
