Motorrad Days 2017
More than 40,000 bikers from across the globe flocked to the Bavarian town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen last weekend for BMW Motorrad Days.
Bikes, beer and bratwurst were on the menu over the three-day festival, with plenty of Germany’s finest available to test and taste. The 17th edition of the celebration of all things Motorrad was also the location of the reveal of model updates and new technology for 2018.
The F, R, K and S series have all undergone a number of adjustments for next year. For some bikes, this is simply a colour change. However, others have seen mechanical adjustments and the option of extra equipment to specify.
Entertainment included BMW Motorrad stunt riders Sarah Lezito and Mattie Griffin, jaw-dropping displays by Wall of Death riders from the Original Motodrom and – on Saturday night – live music from a traditional Oompah band.
Saturday night was the party night, with thousands of bikers taking pews in the giant marquee to enjoy a traditional Bavarian banquet, paired with a few steins of cold German lager. The party went on until the early hours and unsurprisingly Sunday was a more subdued affair than the previous day.
Nonetheless, there was still a strong crown wandering around the festival, checking out the sports, adventure and custom models on display.
