Leather clothing
BMW Motorrad clothing will protect you from the weather and injuries on your adventures. And you will attract plenty of attention too. Regularly treat your equipment to ensure that your leather jackets, trousers and suits or fabric and leather blends last as long as possible. Here’s how.
1. Preparation
1. Preparation
Remove protectors prior to cleaning and close all zips, hook and loop fasteners as well as press studs.
2. Cleaning and washing
2. Cleaning and washing
Remove small amounts of dirt immediately with a suede/smooth leather brush. For moderate amounts of dirt, place a soft, damp cloth on the stain, leave it to soak and remove the dirt while applying gentle pressure (potentially repeat several times). Exclusively have tough dirt and stains removed by a specialist leather laundry service.
3. Drying
3. Drying
Line dry clothing at room temperature before brushing it with a special suede/smooth leather brush. Do not place on a radiator or dry in the sun – even after prolonged exposure to rain.
4. Waterproofing
4. Waterproofing
You can regularly treat clothing with BMW Motorrad waterproofing agents. The existing waterproof coating provides several hours of protection from rain. Waterproofing properties may vary between clothing, as each leather part is unique.

Notes
Leather clothing is not machine-washable. Do not iron or bleach with chlorine! Do not use aggressive cleaning agents (such as petrol, acid, solvents, lye) to clean! If possible, have the leather manufacturer carry out special treatment every 2 to 3 years. Your authorised BMW Motorrad Retailer will be happy to advise you.
