Striking, unimaginable scenery contrasts with bustling cities and peaceful farming communities on this all-encompassing tour of the rugged, resilient country that is Vietnam. 3,000 miles of culture, landscapes, sights, and smells are packed into our itinerary do this country justice in a way a thousand movie remakes never quite manage.
Vietnam’s origins can be traced back around 25,000 years and through our trip we’ll get under the skin of a country with a turbulent past as we travel down its length. Our riding starts in the Thai border region of Chiang Khong before crossing into Laos and then northern Vietnam. We sample mountain passes, including the mighty O Quy Ho Pass before tracing the border with China over the other-worldly Dong Van Karst Plateau. The scenery is matched only by the incredible riding roads, with more corners per mile than anything you’ve ever ridden. Relaxing on Vietnam’s coast give us the chance for a two-day boat cruise on the spectacular UNESCO-listed Ha Long Bay.
This contrasts with the next part of our ride – an assault on the senses in chaotic, wonderful, downright crazy Hanoi and its throng of scooters. Heading south, we cross the old DMZ and ride to the UNESCO-listed town of Hoi An before the perfect beaches of south-eastern Vietnam, then on to Ho Chi Minh City. Hear the story of the America-Vietnam war from the Vietnamese perspective as we visit thought-provoking memorials to the infamous conflict.
Our last leg turns north into the central highlands where the fields change from rice to coffee, over the border to Laos and then Thailand. Experience the warm Vietnamese hospitality on this breath-taking trip around a diverse and fascinating country.
