Departing from the bustling city of Cape Town and finally arriving in Windhoek, this is a true adventure into Africa. We head north taking in the Northern Cape and Bokkeveld Plateau, spending a night close to the Namibian border. En route is the remarkable Cederberg Wilderness, famed for its sandstone rock formations, and of course a cuppa Rooibos Tea. Fish River Canyon, the largest canyon in Africa, is our first stop in Namibia before exploring the ghost town of Kolmanskop – an abandoned diamond mining settlement. Be sure to bring your camera because a day off the bikes in Sossusvlei is a photographer’s dream due to its striking desert landscape and red-tinted sand.
Two nights in Etosha National park give us the opportunity to marvel at some of nature’s finest creatures on a game drive where elephants, rhino, leopards and giraffes are just metres away. Soon, it’s time to set off for Windhoek and our final night celebratory meal.
As this is Africa, the routes on this tour are on 60% compacted gravel and dirt roads. While not considered truly off-road, you will need to be a competent and confident gravel road rider to enjoy the trip.
We stay at incredible accommodation throughout this trip, often in remote locations, which only help to make this tour so memorable. Will you ever forget sipping a sundowner as the night sky materialises over the giant sand dunes of Sossusvlei?
