Big Blue
Vote for the Vines Motorrad Big Blue in the UK National Customising Championship.
The Inspiration
The Big Blue was inspired by the heritage of R 18 and created with the expression of the BMW brand forefront of mind. The Vines Motorrad R 18 custom is entered into the International Customising Championship representing a creation from the retailer network.
The Story
The bike was built with the ‘bobber’ style and our aim was to not make it too radical, more a stripped down look.
The bike was kept fairly stock chassis wise, with most components treated to a cosmetic makeover.
The majority of the fabrication was carried out by ‘Pier City Custom’ and assembled in house by our technicians.
Hand made stainless steel exhausts finished off with ‘Unit Garage’ silencers clean up the motor side of the bike.
The paint work was beautifully rendered by ‘Surrey Customs’ using a stock BMW colour fading from black to blue combined with the gorgoeus and very obvious hand painted BMW badges, showing the bikes rich origins.
Both the wheels have been swapped out for BMW Roland Sands forged wheels at 18 and 21 inches running Avon Cobra tyres.
A bespoke rear fender has been fitted tight to the rear tyre leading up to a single riders seat upholstered in a ‘Bentley Stitched’ fabric.
The handlebars were changed to Rizoma bars and risers, with R nineT master cylinders to continue the dark custom theme.
Completing the front end we have removed the fork shrouds and fitted a smaller headlight with a modified ‘Denali’ lamp allowing the bike to run dipped and main beam.
