The HP2 Megamoto brings dynamics onto the road – not least because of the carbon parts that are fitted ex works. High Performance for every day.  

One year after the HP2 Enduro, BMW Motorrad launched the second model of the HP series in autumn of 2006: the HP2 Megamoto. It is the elegant version of the HP2 Enduro – one which now functions as the basis. Fitted with exclusive materials and beautifully detailed solutions, the focus is clear: get out of the mud and onto the road. Elegance has a particularly important role to play here: the HP2 Megamoto is factory-fitted with carbon parts. Among other things, it is also responsible for the weight reduction down to below 200 kilos. With 113 hp, the boxer engine ensures sporty dynamism, as do the firm chassis, tyres and rims in the supermoto style.

Feeling in 156 bends

The HP2 Megamoto is not about racing and success. Nevertheless, BMW Motorrad is sending the new HP model to the traditional mountain race Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado. Five BMW factory riders took to the start line in 2007 atop the new HP2 Megamoto and put it through its paces. 21 kilometres of mountain roads, 156 bends, up to a height of 4,300 metres. The result is clear for all to see: Gary Trachy, Casey Yarrow, Micky Dymond and Greg Tracy are by far and away the fastest racers atop their two-cylinder supermotos in the "Race to the Clouds".

Passion to attack

What are factors for success for racers are at the same time fun factors for the motorcyclists: the HP2 Megamoto has quickly made a name for itself thanks to its simple handling and powerful torque in the low and middle engine speed range. Anyone taking a seat on the bike wants to attack immediately – even if the opponent is only the next mountain or bend. The supermoto is not the second model in the High Performance range without reason. It is uncompromisingly trimmed for sport, with a forged aluminium swing arm and paralevers; Öhlins central shock absorber and Akrapovic exhaust system. Riding pleasure above all else.
